.: George C. Marshall- Rubrics of Leadership

Stewart W. Husted

Leadership in Literature Review

George C. Marshall was the rock that got America through World War II and its aftermath. He advised both President Franklin D. Roosevelt and President Harry S. Truman. He served as both Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State. He was the first military leader ever to receive the Nobel Peace Prize; this, for his part in the plan that bore his name by which the United States assisted in rebuilding Europe after the devastation of World War II. He was mentor to Eisenhower, Patton, and MacArthur, yet never shared their fame, due to knowing sacrifices on his part to be where he was needed most. Throughout his life, George C. Marshall adhered strictly by a set of principles. These principles make up a rubric of leadership that will never change or fail. This book by Stewart W. Husted uses examples from the life of George C. Marshall to teach these nine rubrics of leadership. It is well written; but barely wets the lips as a biography of this great leader. I can’t wait to get my hands on a more complete account of his life and service.
